So now we have that disgusting little worm, the Bishop of Hereford, Anthony Priddis, deciding to interrogate and turn down a gay man for a post as a youth officer.
Why, for goodness sake, can't people see just what a waste of time the institutional church is? There is no point in being part of something which is oppressive and has a homophobic message - its just not good for you! Would a black person join the BNP?
I find myself in a difficult position on one level. I can see nothing worthwhile in the Church, and ever more, see humanism as more appealing than Christianity. Yet the latter has been a large part of my own life and identity for quite a while....and I know there are things I still find attractive about the Christian message.
I'm going to do some proper reading about humanism and atheism. In the meantime, the fence will have to do, although its not terribly comfortable...

Hadn't realized, name notwithstanding, that you were still on that side of the Atlantic. Just saw your blog name on MP's side bar and checked in. On the whole I tend to be more in agreement with you than with most of those who post on Thinking Anglicans - theological complexity is seldom my thing - but had noticed your recent absence. So it's good to see you back. Roger
Thank you!
Mind me asking - what's 'MP'? The one with the sidebar?
Mad Priest. the guy up in Newcastle-o-Tyne.
