MP's expenses

I'm bored to death with this topic. It is open to abuse just as much as any other system like this is open to abuse....

I would suggest that we pay MP's a decent professional London wage, that MP's should then be expected to have one main home either in London or the constituency, and a flat in either as well. London MP's do not need two homes and so should be paid slightly less. MP's in grace-and-favour accommodation should also have a reduced salary.

The current system is bringing politics into disrepute.

MP's expenses should be trebled. Even then they wouldn't be paying me enough!

I always do wonder about these vicars who seem to have pots of money. The one in my home town was an example. he was also reckoned to have the largest collection of porn in the town as well.....anyone less 'Christian' would be hard to imagine. To the right of Genghis Khan, unpopular....oh, hold on, I tho0ught Nazi-Rally had resigned?

We get about £20000 p.a. We no longer get perks like Easter collections and all our fees for funerals, wedding etc. go straight to the diocese. We have to buy our own cars, computers and office equipment and pay all the heating and lighting costs for our offices (less 20% of 25%).

Even if you think we do bugger all to earn it there are plenty of people out there who earn a lot more for doing bugger all - academics, scientists, writers, artists, performers, politicians and dead celebrity chavs, for example.

Oh, anything but - I can think of at least three vicars who must put in 50 hour weeks regularly. I can only assume those with dosh have some sort of private income.

I'd really like the chance to do bugger all but as an academic without a permanent position who does sessional and contract work, it definitely doesn't apply! Gets worse every year
